Biomechanics Activity Analysis: Brushing My Teeth

Every morning and night I brush my teeth. I start in anatomical position with my elbow extended by my side. I reach forward to grab my toothbrush, which is crossing the sagittal plane and coronal axis. I then flex my elbow to bring the toothbrush to my mouth, which is also crossing the sagittal plane and coronal axis. While moving the toothbrush around in my mouth, I am flexing and extending my wrist in the sagittal plane and coronal axis. The osteokinematic movement is elbow flexion and extension. The arthokinematic movement is at the elbow joint. The concave/convex rule applies when the ulna and radius (concave) roll and glide agains the humerus (convex) in the same direction. The prime movers are the biceps, brachioradialis and brachialis which are performing a concentric contraction. When I am done, I place my toothbrush back in the holder and end in the same position as I started.
